What does coffee to do your brain?

If you’re like me, a person chases productivity and discipline, rushing through daily tasks with a to-do list in hand, you’ll understand the perpetual quest for that extra boost.

For the longest time, my solution was simple: Coffee - 4 cups a day. Every time I felt not energised enough, I took a sip, as quick as I could, and got back to the grind.

But one day, I realised it wasn’t doing any good to my sleep, and my productivity dropped significantly..

The Wake-Up Call

So I wondered how does coffee really boost one’s productivity? This is like the no.1 widely known facts isn’t it?

This special moment makes me dig into the science of Coffee vs Productivity and what I found was profound.

Productivity Hack with Coffee #1: Quality Over Quantity

Coffee is that type of drinks that provides you clarity to your mind. Most people drinks coffee to gain that extra clarity in your mind.

The science affirmed that — the joy in every sip lies in the deliberate act of slowing down.

Simply says that, your mind will only get relaxed and reattached to the clear state when you enjoy the coffee and proactively slow down the pace of your life.

So the pursuit of productivity isn't about the quantity of coffee but the quality of the experience. It wasn't about rushing through four cups; it was about savouring one mindfully.

The ritual of brewing a cup of coffee is a cognitive stimulant, triggering sensory experiences that influenced mood and mindset.

I have experimented it myself for a period of time and that completely changes my productivity, so I concluded 2 actions that might be helpful to you:

Tips 1: Seek Quality of Coffee

Spend some time trying out different types of coffee and pick some you like.

e.g. is it nutty flavour/fruity flavour? Is it milk/black coffee? Which brand of coffee suits those of your criteria? You don't need to rush into decision but do try a couple of brands.

Tips 2: Seek Quality Brewing Time

Pause from your busy schedule and enjoy the routine of brewing a cup for yourself!

e.g. Try out different types of brewing methods, e.g. aeropress, drip coffee, and mix the coffee shots up with cold milk, tonic water, etc to make the brewing fun, and joyful.

Change the coffee and brewing ritual to make it works for your productivity, not against you.
