What’s drip coffee bag?

"Drip coffee bags" or "coffee drip bags," is a convenient and portable way to make individual servings of drip-brewed coffee.

The concept involves placing ground coffee in a filter bag, which is then attached to the edges of a cup or mug. Hot water is poured over the coffee grounds, and as the water passes through the grounds, it extracts the flavors and aromas, dripping down into the cup below.

When making yourself a cup of drip coffee, you’ll experience the full aroma from the freshly grounded coffee, which exacerbates when you start pouring hot water in. Each drip coffee bag has a different flavour to it, making it an easy but immersive coffee-making experience!

Where are drip coffee bags from?

In 1990, Yamanaka Industrial Co., Ltd. in Japan applied the concept of tea bags to develop filter-hung coffee for young office workers and fast-paced lifestyles, making it the first version of drip coffee bags.

However, the initial hanging ear design was flawed - not only did the hanging ear only have one side, , and it was too far away from the upper edge of the filter bag, resulting in uneven support, and the opening could not be fully opened. Drip coffee bags were not successful as a product at first with the design making it inconvenient to use.

the history of drip coffee bags

By 1996, Daiki Shoji in Japan improved the original design and moved the hanging ears downward from the upper edge of the original filter bag. Then in 1999, they continued to improve the single-sided hanging ear to double-sided hanging ear, and applied for a patent.

Only then did the filter-hung coffee look like today.

Because it is convenient to carry and easy to use, drip bag coffee releases more energy than instant coffee. It produces the aroma of coffee, combining the advantages of instant and hand-brewed coffee and improving their shortcomings, so it is very popular in Japan, and soon later into Asia and the rest of World.

They are a great alternative to instant coffee but people who want coffee fast, but value good quality and fresh coffee - rather than processed, mass-produced coffee products.
